This Week’s Job Interview Tip #2

Don’t sleep on the thank you note!

The interview went well. You know you impressed the interviewer, but now you have to play the waiting game. The interviewer told you that you were the last candidate she interviewed and that you and one other candidate have impressed her. She added that she will get back to you early next week with her decision.

You’re not too concerned about the other candidate because you know that the interviewer was impressed with your professional background and skills. At your previous employer you were the POC for the same application that’s required for this new position. She pretty much admitted to you that your extensive experience with the application is a bonus. You’re thinking all you have to do is sit back and wait for the job offer, right? WRONG!

Never take a successful interview for granted. Since you feel that you’ve done everything perfectly, finish off the perfection with a thank you note! Send it off the same day of the interview.

Sending a thank you note can tilt the decision in your favor. It not only shows that you’re interested in the job, but it’s your chance to summarize why you’re perfect for it.

Sending a thank you note is like adding a cherry on top of the sundae!
